Peruvian Amazon Expedition

Machu Picchu, Cloud Forests & the Amazon

 

Dappled light slowly begins to filter through the canopy as the stillness of the pre-dawn is broken by the guttural chorus of red howler monkeys. The sound reverberates through the forest awaking its denizens, stirring the imagination and letting us know that we indeed have arrived in the Amazon.

18-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 – Home Cities to Miami and on to Lima, Peru
Day 2 – Fly from Lima to Cuzco; Lake Huacarpay
Day 3 – Train to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu
Day 4 – Aguas Calientes and the Train back to Cuzco
Day 5 – Travel from Cuzco across the Andes to the Cloud Forest
Day 6 – Cloud Forests of Manu National Park
Day 7 – Cloud Forests of Manu National Park
Day 8 – Travel to Atalaya and Boat to Manu Lodge
Days 9 – 12 – Manu National Park
Day 13 – Travel from Manu Lodge to Blanquillo Lodge
Day 14 – Blanquillo Lodge to Manu Wildlife Center
Day 15 – Manu Wildlife Center to Puerto Maldonado
Day 16 – Depart Puerto Maldonado for Lima
Day 17 – Birding the Pacific Coast of Pucusana and Puerto Viejo
Day 18 – Depart Lima for the US
